🎄 CHRISTMAS CARNIVALS · CITY HEIGHTS, CA

Christmas carnivals in City Heights.

A Christmas carnival is a carnival where the whole look belongs to the season: red-and-white and green-and-white striped booths under warm string lights, candy-cane signs on every game, concessions, a holiday balloon arch and a photo station with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The carnival is the event, from the entrance arch to the last prize. My Little Carnival produces christmas carnivals in City Heights for churches, schools, community groups and neighbors, and the layout is drawn to fit the compact sites a dense neighborhood offers.

City Heights has several public spaces a community group can ask about: the City Heights Recreation Center, City Heights Community Park, Park de la Cruz Community Center and Colina del Sol Park. Schools in San Diego Unified School District add campus yards to the list. A dense neighborhood does not hand out big empty fields, so a carnival here is planned around the space available, with the booths and the Santa station arranged to match it.

My Little Carnival builds Christmas carnivals across San Diego County, and the booth count is chosen after the site is known, not before.

WHAT THEY USUALLY LOOK LIKE

A Christmas carnival laid out in City Heights.

A tight site rewards a plain plan. The balloon arch, trimmed with candy canes, peppermint and gingerbread, stands at the one entrance. From there the striped booths run in a loop, or an L along two sides of the lot, with the green-and-white booths alternating with red-and-white. Warm string lights cross the tops, and each game has its candy-cane skin and prizes. A loop or an L keeps every booth within sight of the entrance, so a parent can watch a child from the Santa line.

The concession booths sit near the exit end with churros, pretzels, popcorn, cotton candy, nachos, snow cones and caramel apples. Santa and Mrs. Claus take the photo-op station at the back of the loop, with the walk-in snow globe inflatable (a photo prop where nothing falls) beside it when space allows. A church can end the evening at the station, and a community group can open the carnival after a morning service or a school event.
