🎄 CHRISTMAS CARNIVALS · RANCHO SANTA FE, CA

Christmas carnivals in Rancho Santa Fe.

A Christmas carnival is a complete carnival in holiday dress: red-and-white and green-and-white striped booths under warm string lights, candy-cane skins on the games, a balloon arch over the entrance, and Santa and Mrs. Claus at a photo-op station. It is the evening's whole program. This guide to christmas carnivals in Rancho Santa Fe covers the public fields and the private properties that can hold one, the questions a covenant community adds and the cost at each size.

Rancho Santa Fe is a low-density community of large lots, and the Rancho Santa Fe Association administers its covenant, so a host planning an event on private grounds or common space should ask the Association what applies. Public and shared grounds include the Rancho Santa Fe Community Center, San Dieguito County Park, Rancho Santa Fe Field and Richardson Field. Rancho Santa Fe School District runs the elementary school, and San Dieguito Union High School District serves the older grades.

My Little Carnival offers options rather than assuming rules we cannot confirm, and builds the carnival to whichever ground the host secures.

WHAT THEY USUALLY LOOK LIKE

A Christmas carnival in Rancho Santa Fe.

On a large private lot the carnival can stretch out like a garden party. Booths line a lawn in a long row or a loose horseshoe, the balloon arch (candy canes, peppermint balloons, gingerbread figures) stands where guests step in from the drive, and string lights hang along the booth fronts so the lawn glows after sunset. Each booth carries a traditional game, from ring toss to bean toss, dressed in candy-cane skins and stocked with prizes.

On a field such as Rancho Santa Fe Field or Richardson Field, the same carnival scales to a public crowd, with concession booths together at one end serving churros, pretzels, popcorn, cotton candy, nachos, snow cones and caramel apples, and Santa and Mrs. Claus at the other. The walk-in snow globe inflatable adds a photo prop (nothing falls inside it). A private host or a community group arranges the catering, drinks, tables, chairs, tents beyond our booths and any heating, and My Little Carnival runs the carnival.
